Cleveland Basement Finishing – NEW 3D Design
The homeowner that this basement was designed for recently bought their first house in Brooklyn Heights with hopes of having a finished basement with an open, livable layout where they can entertain friends, use everyday, and, most importantly, not bust their budget over during the remodel. Thus, the couple hired JM to work with their particular needs and tastes and to implement the remodeling process while not exceeding their specified budget.
The previous homeowner had left the basement in poor condition, and although the basement was partially finished at one point, virtually everything in it is now outdated and/or no longer functional. The new owners had a specific list of needs for their lay out, and with the help of our interior design team we were able to present them with a basement design that exceeded their expectations. For instance, this particular design cleverly lays out an entertainment area, basement bar, office area, laundry area, a full bathroom and even an additional storage area–each of a requirement of the homeowner. With the approved design in hand, we will soon begin remodeling the basement to meet each of these needs.
The layout pictured above was specially deigned to allow maximum use of existing space, while staying within budget. Moreover, the newly finished basement adds significant value to the home, while also increasing the usable square footage for the homeowners to enjoy. The design contains many unique elements, however some were more difficult to implement than others. For instance the HVAC runs right overtop of the plumbing; therefore the most difficult job for the JM design team was positioning the new basement bathroom. To allow for enough headroom in the bathroom, our design crew needed to locate the new bathroom in a way so that it was not under the HVAC, but also not too far away from he existing plumbing to avoid additional costs (moving plumbing around can be expensive!). Therefore, the bathroom was placed in the office, avoiding additional costs while also adding convenience.
In addition to the basement bathroom there are a variety of other elements that were used to enhance the look and feel of the finished basement. The custom layout contains vinyl flooring, standard 2×4 framing and drywall on the ceilings, and is designed with a slight contrast in colors.
