BASEMENT REMODELING OVERVIEW
Do you like working from home? Well these homeowners did, so we were thrilled to help them utilize their existing space for an impressive new office;making everyday business that much more enjoyable. While staying within budget, the JMDB team executed a fantastic basement renovation.

HOME RENOVATION SPECIFICATIONS & DETAILS
The bath, bar, office and living area was a contemporary design innovated by the JMDB internal design team. The bathroom features extravagant tiling and the custom bar includes countertops from Home Depot. The shower is completely custom and boasts a very unique and vibrant design.

PROJECT SCOPE
-Framed approximate 13x41 area as well as separate area for bath, bar, and office area
-2x4 construction with treated floor plate
-Installed R-13 insulation
-Installed all electrical to service new area to code including 12 recess lights, 2 cables, exhaust fan in bath area, and new switches and outlets (including laundry area)
-Installed plumbing for new bathroom and bar sink to code
-Extended air supplies to bath and office area
-Dry walled all walls and ceilings and moister control drywall in bathroom
-Mudded, sanded, taped and painted all drywall with one coat (owner’s choice)
-Installed standard new trim and doors as needed
-Installed cabinets and tops according to approved layout as well as new hardware in bar and bathroom area
-Installed tile in bar and bath areas

The kitchen had its day, and it was completely remodeled and re-designed for a homeowner in Brecksville, OH; close to the JM Design Build headquarters. The JMDB team was able to design the kitchen exactly to the customer’s needs, although we had our share of obstacles along the way!

The Kitchen is attractive and stunning. The custom designed cabinetry was from Kraftmaid Cabinetry. The design features elements customized to the homeowners’ beautiful home. The island and Kitchen counters feature Granite countertops from Bradley Arsena which are very easy on the eye.

-Reworked all electrical and plumbing to service new kitchen including under-counter lighting and 8 recess lights

KITCHEN DESIGN OVERVIEW
Today’s 3D design is an impressive rendering customized for a homeowner in Brecksville, OH. The customer wanted their kitchen to have an angular design to make it a more dynamic area of the house. However, the floorplan is not the only unique part of this kitchen; it contains vaulted ceilings with skylights, making it the perfect place to practice some much needed culinary therapy.

KITCHEN DESIGN ELEMENTS & STYLE
In particular, the homeowners wanted the kitchen to be appealing and eye-catching. In order to accomplish this, our designers selected cabinetry was with a lighter finish to contrast the dark appliances. Moreover, the tiled flooring and bar height island certainly add to the charm of this kitchen. We feel this design creates a vibrant environment in the kitchen while still being open enough for family gatherings. By adding the island bar the customer is able to conserve space and create more room for entertaining guests. The overlapping heights of the countertops is a very unique feature to this kitchen and creates a more modern/contemporary look. Under the bar is a glass end cap that can be used to display heirlooms and china.

This kitchen remodel in Brecksville embodies many design elements that are custom to the existing house. For instance, the cabinetry was designed to fit the unique, angular space evident throughout most of the area. The cabinets are cherry wood KraftMaid with a natural finish. Today we are excited to reveal a really cool 3D design we recently presented to homeowner in Hudson Ohio in need of our Cleveland kitchen remodeling services for their home renovation project. The homeowners, like many of our customers, still have the original, out-of-date layout that was in style when their home was originally built decades ago. Being that it’s ‘not our first rodeo’, our team of designers and general contractors were able to scope out the existing space and reconfigure the room to create more storage and walking space than the homeowners had ever imagined possible. 

However, reworking the existing space was only half the battle. The customer had a very specific list of goals they wanted met from this project that we were to be mindful of during the design process. For instance, because the kitchen is quite small, the homeowners wanted to make the best use of the floor space with out overdoing modifications to the original floor plan. The ideal kitchen for the homeowners was a warm, inviting environment with exposed joints and rich, wood floors to maintain the existing feel of their farm house. Thus, the design we were able to come up with gives the room a much more contemporary feel while still keeping the current theme of the house. We also included the kitchen island for casual seating.

Perhaps the most challenging component of the kitchen redesign was the shape itself. As you can see, we were able to utilize the U-shape by following the curves of the kitchen with custom cabinetry in order to maximize storage space, yet still allowing for easy travel through the area. As well, the right wall has a built in pantry with a built in space for the refrigerator. Next to the refrigerator are glass end caps, which allows storage and display of family heirlooms and fine china.
