Bathroom Remodeling in Bedford Hts, OH

Our latest bathroom remodel (pictured above) was designed for an elderly homeowner in Bedford Hts (44146). The homeowner recently had surgery on a broken hip and was in need of assistance; it was very difficult for her to get in and out of the bathtub because of the previous lay out. However, with the help of JM Design Build, a local general contractor in Cleveland, she is now fully capable of using her bathroom.
There were several challenges we were faced with during this project. For one, this was the only bathroom in the home, so time was a major factor in this project. However, once our guys heard about the homeowner’s situation, they became determined to complete the bathroom remodel as fast as possible. In less than 1 week, from start to finish, the bathroom was COMPLETELY brand new!
In addition to time, this project was particularly uniquene because although the bathroom needed to be handicap accessible for the homeowner, she did not want to limit the market appeal of the home in the event that she decided to sell it in the near future. Thus, we had to ensure that the features that make the bathroom handicap accessible—i.e. the grab bars suction to the shower walls—were not permanent. This way they could serve their ultimate purpose yet not negatively affect the market value or attractiveness of the home. Another way we were able to suit the needs of the homeowner was with the sink. The pedestal sink we installed allows the homeowner more room to get in and out of the bathroom.
Also, in terms of bathroom remodeling benefits, our team allowed the homeowner to have complete discretion over the materials they wanted to use—for instance, the homeowner selected the toilet, tub, pedestal sink, faucets, and showerhead. These items were then matched with a corresponding towel rack, fanlight, vanity light, mirror, overhead cabinet and 30 square feet of tile.
Our Process
The team demo’d the existing bathroom down to the studs. They then installed the new tub unit and updated the electrical, followed by installing a new exhaust fan/light combination in the ceiling. After the electrical they hung new drywall, taped, sanded and primed it. They also installed the tile new floor; a new pedestal sink, toilet, faucet and showerhead; a new tile rack and handicap bars; and a new vanity light, mirror and overhead storage cabinet. Lastly, the team painted the walls the homeowner’s choice of color and installed the base trim around the bathroom.
